Kanaan: Dialogue serves interests of all Christians, Lebanese

FEBRUARY 5, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Change and Reform Parliamentary bloc MP, Ibrahim Kanaan, said on Thursday that any call for dialogue was widely welcomed amid the prevailing stage, asserting in an interview with MTV that his political party, the Free Patriotic Movement, did not believe in anything such as a “dead end”.

“The FPM is always seeking initiatives, and is always searching for road maps towards a comprehensive solution,” the lawmaker said.

He added that he had been personally tasked by FPM Leader, Michel Aoun, to follow up on dialogue with the Lebanese Forces.

“Our talks with the Lebanese Forces include strong emphasis on a new president. We have been without a president for more than just 300 days; we have been without a president for 25 years!” Kanaan added.

He went on to pin high hopes on the wisdom of MP Walid Jumblatt to help elect the right president.

“In fact, we did not hear from Prime Minister Saad Hariri, House Speaker Nabih Berri, and Jumblatt anything but what fully encourages Christian-Christian dialogue,” the lawmaker added, asserting that dialogue serves the interests of all the Lebanese Christians and the Lebanese alike.
