Jumblatt for rehighlighting the national aspect of the presidential dossier instead of confining it to Christians alone

FEBRUARY 8, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) “Democratic Gathering” Head, MP Walid Jumblatt, called Sunday for “coming-up with new strategies to overcome the current status quo,” pointing to “the need to re-consider the national aspect of the presidential elections dossier instead of confining it solely to Christians,” while warning that “if the presidential void persists, it will gradually lead to cutting-off presidential prerogatives.”

Jumblatt’s words came in his weekly position to “Al-Anba’a” Newspaper, in which he stressed “the need for all political parties in the country to acknowledge that a presidential settlement is inevitable.”

“We ought not to wait for foreign understandings to be developed, for that may require a long time,” added Jumblatt, noting that “immunization of internal stability is a pending necessity at this stage amidst the growing external challenges, in addition to re-activation of institutional work in the country.”
