Jreij pledges measures against airing Nasrallah’s interview on Tele Liban

APRIL 7, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Information Minister, Ramzi Jreij, on Tuesday pledged to follow up on Tele Liban’s live transmission of Hezbollah Secretary General, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s interview with the Syrian Al-Akhbariya T.V.; however, the minister said that he would not alter other local T.V. channels’ choice to broadcast it.

“The matter lies in the contact [that Tele Liban had established] with the Syrian Al-Akhbariya T.V. for permission to broadcast the interview at the time that Lebanon has dissociated itself from any sort of contact with the Syrian regime,” the Minister said in a press conference.

Jreij also lashed out at some political talk shows that have been lately hosting political adversaries to later transform the show into a “battle field”.

“This urges me to call on all media outlets to demonstrate respect to the laws and principles they have taken upon themselves to commit to,” the Minister said, threatening of serious legal measures against those who continue to harm the nation’s higher interest.
