MUSCAT: Jotun Paints, the no 1 in paints in Oman and represented in over 90 countries across all continents, achieved yet another milestone with the ground breaking ceremony of its new factory in the Rusayl Industrial area recently.

Jotun Paints Oman built its factory in Rusayl in 1985. Over a period of 30 years Jotun Paints has continuously invested in people, manufacturing capacity and product development to meet the increasing needs of environment-friendly and high quality paint solutions.

Today Jotun Paints has a nationwide dealer distribution with more than 200 shops, and a strong position in decorative and protective projects. Jotun’s production capacity has gradually increased from 1mn litres in 1985 to 22mn litres in 2014.

Jotun Paints Oman is the proud recipient of His Majesty’s Cup and the certificate for the Best Company three times. It has also won the Civil Defence Award for Best Fire Protection Systems installed.

After 30 years of successful operations in Oman, Jotun is all set to increase its production further with a new state-of-the-art facility designed to be operational by 2016.

Being built on a sprawling area of 60,000sq m with a built-up area of approximately 22,000sq m, the new state-of-art facility will be well equipped with production, warehouse, administrative offices and more.

Speaking at the ground breaking ceremony, Anwar Ali Sultan, chairman, Jotun Paints Oman, said, “I am proud to see that the investment we made 30 years ago has brought us to where we are today, of being a market leader in Oman. To further strengthen our position, the state-of-the-art facility investments will double our capacity enabling us to continue our strong growth in the future as well.”

Thanking the relevant ministries and PEIE for their whole-hearted support in their expansion, Bjorn Skjelby, general manager, Jotun Paints Oman said, “New technologies are major driving forces to be the most environment-friendly and efficient paint manufacturer in the region. I am confident this will give us a sustainable and competitive advantage for many years to come.”

He added, “The Jotun group and our partner in Oman have been fantastic supporters to this investment, and it would have been almost impossible without their strong support. I am confident this project will be a great success run by the best contractors, consultants, project teams, and paint manufacturer in Oman.”

Jotun is specially committed to reducing the carbon footprint throughout the whole value chain.

The new factory is designed to be environment-friendly by installing the newest technology in the production processes and in the formulation of Jotun products.
