Jannati urges election of president

JANUARY 15, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Ali Jannati, hoped that “dialogue would pave the way to elect a new president in Lebanon.”

He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran had always been with Lebanon and supported national sovereignty and unity among sects.

“Iran hopes stability and security would prevail over Lebanon and all obstacles which are preventing the election of a president will be eliminated,” he asserted.

Jannati’s remarks came during a visit of the director of National News Agency Laure Sleiman Saab to Iran upon an invitation from Arna Agency in Tehran.

On another note, he confirmed continuous cooperation with Lebanon.

He stressed the importance of the role of media in shaping a genuine and realistic image in the minds of Iranian and Lebanese people, expressing his satisfaction over the close cooperation between ‘NNA’ and ‘Arna’ agencies.

Jannati confirmed readiness to cooperate with Culture and Information Ministry in Lebanon in all aspects.

The minister praised Lebanese Ambassador to Tehran Fadi Hajj Ali’s exerted efforts.

He pushesd for the activation of cooperation with the Lebanese Ministry of Culture as part of the agreement signed between the two countries, saying “we are working to strengthen it.”

He touched on the terror wave and extremism in the Middle East, pointing that “the United States of America and Europe noticed, though late, the risk of this wave and are currently working to thwart this phenomenon.”

From her part, Sleiman gave an overview of the history of the National News Agency since 1961 until today, stressing that “the Agency is an agency of all the Lebanese and adopts the policy of neutrality and is committed to media ethics.”
