MUSCAT: Ithraa has revealed its plan for the current year which includes new initiatives to boost investment promotion and export development.
Addressing a press conference, H H Sayyid Faisal bin Turki al Said, Ithraa’s director general of marketing and media said, “We’re passionate about attracting investments and talent and will help local firms get a hold in the overseas markets. We need to attract investment, promote non-oil exports, help increase jobs at home and that is what Ithraa does. Our job is to support current non-oil Omani products and explore and penetrate international markets.”
Faris al Farsi, Ithraa’s director general for investment promotion, said the year’s plan mainly focuses on attracting investment to Oman.
“Our plan for 2015 is geared towards providing services that will help attract, retain and expand business opportunities in Oman. We are also trying to gain access to markets in Europe, Asia and North America so that Omani firms can reach out to consumers. Our activities will continue to showcase Oman’s world-class infrastructure, market accessibility and talents.”
Elaborating on Ithraa’s activities, Taleb al Makhmari, the body’s director of export facilitation said, “Oman’s non-oil exports are enjoying remarkable success. We are exporting to over 135 countries worldwide. It is not easy for small businesses to enter big markets like India, but there are opportunities for those who want to seize them.”
