Italian deputy foreign minister tours in Marjeyoun

APRIL 28, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) The Italian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Lapo Pistelli, on Tuesday called for speeding up the election of a new President of the Republic, “as Lebanon deserves a President.”

Pistelli made the appeal during a visit to Marjayoun in southern Lebanon, accompanied by the Italian Ambassador to Lebanon Giuseppe Morabito and the representative of the association “AFZI” in Lebanon Marco Perini.

Pistelli inspected projects funded by the said association in favor of Syrian refugees. He was briefed on all the initiatives of the association in the region by its director Dorine Maroun.

“Italy has been assisting Lebanon for 3 years in hosting refugees from Syria and Kurdistan in Iraq,” he said.

“Tomorrow I will meet with political leaders and I will focus on the importance of accelerating the consensual election of a new president,” he concluded.
