Iranian Embassy: officials’ statements have no truck with Lebanese state positions

APRIL 16, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Iranian Embassy in Beirut on Thursday issued a statement firing back at some stances issued in Lebanese local newspapers, on Yemen crisis.

The statement clarified that the Embassy realized well that the concerned officials, albeit representing the state, had nothing to do with the official positions of the friendly and brotherly Lebanese state, but in fact reflected their own viewpoints, something that had been confirmed more than once during too many two-pronged meetings with Iranian officials.

The Embassy’s media office said in the statement that the Embassy would like to speak to the public opinion about numerous matters, wondering what is the opinion of those concerned officials, supposedly interested in justice and security in their country, about the killing of thousands of civilians in Yemen in airstrikes.

In addition, the Embassy wondered about those officials’ position from the crimes committed by ISIS and al-Nusra Front in Syria and Iraq.

“These personalities know well that Yemen is a prestigious country with an old rich culture, and the actions carried out by the people only aim to obtain their legitimate rights,” the statement explained.

“Everybody must know that the confrontation today is a confrontation of visions and thoughts, not a confrontation of weapons and fighters (…) Everybody must realize that history shall not be mercy with double standards while approaching matters,” it concluded.
