APRIL 29, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) International Byblos Festivals’ Committee launched on Friday the program of Byblos Festival for Summer 2015, during a press conference held at Byblos Sur Mer, in the presence of Tourism Minister Michel Pharoun and Culture Minister Raymond Areiji.
The press conference was also attended by Byblos Municipality Head Ziad al-Hawwat, and artists Hiba Tawji and Samar Salemeh.
The Festival runs from July 13 to August 18, 2015.
Head of the International Byblos Festivals’ Committee Latifa Lakkis sadi that the Festival is a nonprofit event that has cultural, touristic, social, economic and purposes, and constantly believes in the civilized facet of Lebanon whatever the circumstances.
Minister Pharoun, for his part, described Jbeil as the “tourist city par excellence,” nominated by the Ministry to be an Arab tourism capital for more than one reason.
Pharoun also regarded the Byblos Festival as becoming an indispensible part of the cultural and heritage agenda for the city of Jbeil.
Minister Araiji said that the Ministry of Culture highly appreciates such events in which the Lebanese from the various provinces and regions meet in national harmony under the rubric of arts and culture, not to mention their role in activating the national economy.
