APRIL 1, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Minister of Economy and Trade, Alain Hakim, on Wednesday patronized the inauguration of the 2015 Banking Economic Forum on social and economic development, organized by the Arab Banks Union, in collaboration with Lebanese Central Bank, the Ministry of Economy and Trade, and IDAL.
In a word delivered on the occasion, Minister Hakim indicated that the Ministry’s future vision was essentially based on consumption, investment, and reforms.
“Amid the current circumstances, it has become necessary to take the adequate measures that would increase growth and preserve job opportunities’ sources,” Hakim said.
“Therefore, focus now must be on setting a bundle of reforms and on restructuring the public finance,” he added.
He went on to explain that this strategy entailed many economic and political measures, including improving the performance of the public sector through administrative development, encouraging investments, creating job opportunities especially in the promising sectors, and improving the infrastructure through partnership between the public and private sectors.
Hakim did not fail to underscore that there could not be any economic development in absence of a president of the republic.
