Helo: Electing consensual president pressing need

APRIL 20, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Democratic Gathering MP, Henry Helo, said on Monday that electing a consensual president has become a pressing need more than ever amid the prevailing circumstances.

“The first step that’s capable of placing Lebanon back on the right track happens once constitutional intuitions take their normal course of action, beginning with the election of a President,” he said in a statement.

He also stressed that any state budget to be endorsed would not bear fruit if not accompanied with balanced political rhetoric which spares the country unwanted tension.

“A lot of substantial laws should be endorsed to kick-start the country’s economic cycle, especially those conducive to an atmosphere rich with investments and work opportunities,” the MP added, calling for more efforts to reinvigorate administrative work and reactivate all the means to combat corruption.

Helo also highlighted the paramount importance of sparing Lebanon the repercussions of regional conflicts by fully adhering to Lebanon’s dissociation policy.
