APRIL 24, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Leader of the Hanshaq party Alexander Kochkarian said on Friday, during a ceremony to mark the centenary of the Armenian Genocide in Bourj Hammoud, that “the history of the Turkish Republic is rich in murder and persecution of ethnic minorities.”
He urged the Turkish authority “to confront its past with sincerity.”
“Recognizing the genocide is only a first step to install a climate of trust. Denial only fuels resentment, hatred and instability in the region,” he said.
“I speak as a victim, to the Turkish people. I tell them that we reject war and genocide; we stand in solidarity with the oppressed. Our revolution is not one against Islam but against those who exploit us,” he finally said.
