FEBRUARY 24, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Former Prime Minister, Saad Hariri, on Tuesday highlighted the necessity to anchor the principle of moderation, stressing that Islam is the religion of peace and love.
Hariri made these remarks during his meeting at Bayt-al-Wasat today with a delegation of the Higher Islamic Sharia Council, headed by Omar Misqawi.
Hariri highlighted the necessity to stand by Grand Mufti, Sheikh Abdullatif Darian, to support his work to develop Dar-al-Fatwa and to show the real image of Islam and Muslims.
“In parallel, we, politicians, must provide a security network for Dar-al-Fatwa and to have a clear role in the developments taking place in Lebanon and the region,” he said.
He has earlier met with Cypriot Ambassador to Lebanon, Homer Mavrommatis, over the bilateral relations between the two countries.
He later welcomed Australian Ambassador, Glenn Miles, with whom he discussed most recent developments.
Among Hariri’s itinerants, have also been the Ambassador of Belgium, Alex Lenaerts, and head of Tripoli municipality, Nader Ghazal.
