APRIL 27, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri categorically stressed that his utter and main priority remains Lebanon’s protection, indicating that stability is not sustainable unless state institutions are reinforced and a solution to the war in Syria is sought.
Hariri’s words came during a dialogue session on Monday held at the Wilson Center in Washington, attended by President of the Center Jane Harmin and heads of studies’ Centers, intellectuals, editors of newspapers and magazines, as well as Lebanon’s Ambassador to the United States Antoine Chedid.
Hariri affirmed that Future Movement exerts all possible efforts to prevent the recurrence of civil war in Lebanon, bracing simultaneously moderation, justice and state institutions in the face of terrorism and extremism.
The former PM also emphasized the need for the election of a new president of the republic, saying continued vacuum in presidency post is a “very dangerous matter” and contributes in paralyzing all state institutions.
Hariri also underlined commitment to Baabda Declaration which calls for Lebanon’s dissociation from the Syrian conflict.
