Harb meets Hale: to end presidential vacuum

APRIL 20, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Minister of Telecommunications, Boutros Harb, on Monday discussed the current general in Lebanon and latest developments in the broader region with US Ambassador in Beirut, David Hale, whom he met at his office in the Ministry.

During the meeting, Harb reportedly highlighted the necessity to exert efforts to elect a president of the republic and end the current presidential vacuum, “as it weakens Lebanon and the status of Christians in the country.”

Moreover, the pair reviewed the position of the major states’ envoys voiced during the meeting held in Bkerki upon the call of Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Beshara Boutros Rahi last week.

Harb welcomed the Ambassadors’ clinging to legitimacy and to speeding up the election of a new head of the Lebanese state.

Talks also touched on the invitation Hale has extended Harb with, to attend a meeting on cyber security, to be held in the US next month.
