October 28, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Minister of Economy and Trade, Alain Hakim, on Wednesday welcomed at his office in the Ministry European Union Ambassador to Lebanon, Christina Lassen, who came on a protocol visit.
The meeting was an occasion to dwell on the current general situation in the region, in addition to the political and economic conditions in Lebanon.
Reportedly, the diplomat voiced appreciation for the efforts exerted by Lebanon to manage the Syrian refugee crisis. She confirmed that the EU sought to intensify cooperation with Lebanon in the future.
Lassen also revealed that the EU would soon issue the results of the parleys over the neighborhood policy.
For his part, Hakim highly esteemed the support provided by the EU for Lebanon, highlighting the importance of augmenting support for Lebanon to deal with the massive refugee influx.
“Coordinating international aids is vital so that they should meet Lebanon’s economic, social, and developmental needs,” he said.
“The Ministry is developing ties with a number of European countries within the framework of activating the economic diplomacy,” he concluded.
