FEBRUARY 5, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) “As part of his mission and the French efforts to promote settlement in Lebanon, Director of the Middle East and North Africa at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development has just completed a new tour in a country where he had already been on December 8 and9,” published on Thursday the Embassy of France in Lebanon.
“With the vacant post at Lebanon’s presidency for over eight months, the country faces challenges every day, especially on the security, humanitarian, economic and social levels. In this context, Jean-François Girault informed his interlocutors of the concern of France, as part of its ongoing commitment to Lebanon, about the negative consequences of institutional dysfunctions plaguing the country…” the Statement said.
Girault reminded of the full mobilization of France to facilitate, through regular contact with all officials, (…) reaching an agreement in order to solve the institutional and political issues facing the country.
As for the presidential dossier, Girault reminded that France, in accordance with its commitment to Lebanon’s sovereignty, neither has a candidate nor does it have a veto on anyone, according to the statement.
