Fatfat calls for ending chaos in Tripoli

OCTOBER 27, 2014 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea, met on Monday with MP Ahmad Fatfat who called, after the meeting, for ending chaos in Tripoli to let peace and security reign.

“We must finish once and for all with the security situation in Tripoli (…) and let State impose its authority in the city,” said Fatfat, urging unconditional support to state institutions and criticizing Hezbollah’s military intervention in Syria.

Separately, he said that members of March 14 will attend the legislative session to elect a president on Tuesday, regretting that the party who has boycott the elections is still the same.

He then defended the extension of the mandate of Parliament, deeming that this approach would spare the country an additional vacuum.

Geagea also received UK Ambassador to Lebanon Tom Fletcher, with whom he reviewed recent developments and tackled the importance of arming the military institutions and handling the issue of Syrian refugees.
