Families of Abra army martyrs: we refuse settlement

APRIL 7, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) The families and relatives of Abra army martyrs on Tuesday rebuffed any settlement or compromise over the blood of their sons, calling to refer their dossier before the Justice Council.

The families today held a press conference at the Press Club in Furn-el-Chebbak, in presence of Head of the International Cooperation Association for Human Rights, Ziad Bitar, director Simon Asmar, and a panel of artists.

“We are gathering today under the title ‘the settlement shall not pass,’ because, unfortunately, we got used to impertinence in this country and deals conducted over the bloods of the army martyrs,” said Jumana Bou Saab, sister of martyr George Bou Saab.

“We live in a time where the criminal, convicted with death, appears on TV and claims innocence,” she went on to say.

For his part, Bitar called to speed up the prosecution of all the detainees in prisons, refusing any settlement.

He also vowed to cry out to make justice against any terrorist who had perpetrated crimes against the military institution.

“We came here to call for referring the crimes indicated in the dossier of Abra army martyrs to the Justice Council,” he stressed.
