OCTOBER 27, 2014 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Mufti of the Republic, Sheikh Abdullatif Deriane, received on Monday, Future Parliamentary bloc MP Kazem El-Kheir, who visited him in the company of his father, former MP Saleh El-Kheir.
The lawmaker reported having briefed the Mufti on the latest developments in the northern capital and the region in the context of the intensive military operations conducted by the army in these areas.
“We told the Mufti that Lebanon is hardly an environment conducive to terrorism. It is rather a region that believes in state institutions,” he added.
In his words, the situation in Menyeh and Tripoli is quiet at the moment, “now that the army is still chasing some militiamen who fled.”
In addition, mufti Deriane received phone calls from House Speaker Nabih Berri, former president Michel Sleiman, and former Prime Minister Najib Mikati.
