In a step to boost professionalism in Omani football, the Oman Football Association (OFA) announced on Sunday that it has signed an agreement with Dubai Sports Channel for the telecast of the ongoing Omantel Professional League (OPL) matches.
Dubai Sports Channel is the second overseas TV channel to broadcast OPL games after Al Kass TV of Qatar, which signed a deal with the OFA last year.
Sheikh Shabib al Hosni, CEO of the OPL, welcomed the new deal and said, “Last weekend saw the telecast of an OPL match on Dubai Sports Channel. We are happy that the matches are attracting many more fans.”
Dubai Sports Channel is expected to telecast a select few OPL matches during the second half of the season.
On the domestic front, Oman TV has telecasted 80 of the 91 games in the first half of the OPL.
