Change and Reform bloc deems nuclear deal advantageous to Iran

APRIL 7, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Change and Reform parliamentary bloc on Tuesday welcomed the nuclear deal inked between Iran and the P5+1, saying that the agreement has made of the Islamic Republic a power of stability in the region.

“This balance is synonym of stability,” former minister, Salim Jreissati, told reporters following the bloc’s weekly meeting held in Rabieh under the chairmanship of MP Michel Aoun.

Turning to Lebanon, Jreissati said that there should be no tolerance on the level of appointments, noting that the government that managed to nominate a Secretary General for the Cabinet must be capable of completing appointments within the state’s central apparatus.

We urge Minister of Interior and Municipalities Nohad Mashnouq and Minister of National Defense Samir Moqbel to respect the legal text.

As to due dates, the former minister condemned the failure of conducting legislative polls, the renewal of the Parliament’s mandate, and the absence of a president of the republic.

“We call for an election law that complies with coexistence and represents everybody,” he said.

“If this doesn’t happen at the Parliament, the Change and Reform bloc will suggest electing the president directly by the people,” he went on to say.
