FEBRUARY 17, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Minister of Education and Higher Learning, Elias Bou Saab, on Tuesday met with Minister of Industry, Hussein Hajj Hassan, over the current general situation and the education and developmental needs of the region of Baalbeck-Hermel.
“The aim of our visit in basically to follow up on the issue of the building of Baalbeck-Hermel governorate,” Hajj Hassan told reporters following the meeting.
“On the political level, we highlighted the necessity to find solutions to activate the work of the government,” he said.
“We are open to reaching a proper formula to activate the work of the government and to prevent any stagnation in making the needed decisions,” he added.
“We, as a bloc and as Hezbollah, have no wish to see the situation in limbo because the government with its role, continuity, and productivity is deemed an essential matter; it is a key institution,” he underlined.
Bou Saab later welcomed a delegation of the British Department for International Development (DFID), headed by DFID Permanent Secretary, Mark Lowcock.
Talks reportedly touched on the coordination among the donor sides working in the field of supporting refugees, and the means to unify international efforts through the Ministry.
British Ambassador to Lebanon, Tom Fletcher, attended the meeting.
The Minister also met today with Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mohammad Fathali, over the means to bolster bilateral relations on the level of education and universities, in addition to Lebanon’s participation in the proceedings of the scientific conferences held in Iran.
