JANUARY 21, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) National Education and Higher Education Minister, Elias Bou Saab, participated in the World Education Conference, which is annually held in London, along with the global technological exhibition, to showcase the latest technological innovations used in education.
At the sidelines of the Conference, Minister Bou Saab held a series of meetings with British officials, notably with Administrative Development Secretary, Justine Greening, International Cooperation Secretary Desmond Swayne, culminated by a work meeting with the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Education, Gordon Brown.
The meetings took place in the presence of Lebanese Ambassador to London, Inaam Ouseiran, British Ambassador to Lebanon, Tom Fletcher, the Director General of the Ministry of Education, Fady Yarak, and Mrs Maysaa Itani senior staff at the Ministry of Education.
Talks centered on the British efforts by the Department of International Cooperation, in the aim of providing assistance to the Lebanese and displaced students.
Bou Saab regarded the meetings as good, whereby British officials confirmed continuous support for Lebanon in their humanitarian, educational, and social mission in handling the refugees’ crisis.
The Minister urged the international community to exert every possible effort to find a peaceful solution and secure the return of the
displaced Syrians to their homeland.
