FEBRUARY 5, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Minister of Education Elias Bou Saab confirmed on Thursday that the Lebanese University’s (LU) crisis is not limited to appointing directors, but is related also to the performance of the University’s council, ruling out the presence of any political interference in the said council.
“There are no political interferences in the council of the University and the problems are among the Deans,” Bou Saab confirmed to ‘Voice of Lebanon” radio station, pointing out to complaints presented to the Education ministry regarding the performance of the University’s council.
The minister underscored that the president of the University has the authority to appoint directors and the ministry has no word in that.
Bou Saab assured that work is ongoing to solve this problem and if that did not succeed, the “issue will be raised to the cabinet.”
