October 29, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Education and Higher Learning Minister, Elias Bou Saab, on Thursday met with Agriculture Minister, Akram Chehayeb, over the amendments made to Chehayeb’s plan for treating the trash issue.
Bou Saab said that amendments which have been made “are not something that is unable to be resolved.”
He said, “We all agree on the plan and we all share finding a solution to the issue. Every piece of land in Lebanon is for all Lebanese, hence there will be no division over the wastes file.”
Bou Saab stressed the necessity for municipalities to have their revenues in order to help handling said file.
Chehayeb, for his part, said that he agreed with the Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) on many items regarding the file, indicating that FPM ministers will attend a cabinet session to resolve the trash issue if a session is needed to be held in this regard.
