Boroujerdi from Grand Serail: Regional developments support security stability in Lebanon

JANUARY 30, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Prime Minister Tammam Salam welcomed on Friday the Chairman of the Foreign Policy and National Security Committee at the Iranian Shura Council, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, who stressed after the meeting that the regional political developments help–to a certain extent –in soothing the security atmosphere and in strengthening stability in Lebanon.

He described that the meeting with Prime Minister Tammam Salam as “good, positive and constructive,” highly praising the constructive humanitarian role that Lebanon has played during the past years in supporting and accommodating hundred thousands of displaced Syrians who fled the bloody incidents in Syria.

“Discussing the best methods to develop bilateral relations was one of the most important issues that we tackled during the meeting,” Boroujerdi said.

He added that he assured Prime Minister Salam that Iran “is fully ready to play a vital, practical and serious role to support any issue that might strengthen and develop relations between Iran and Lebanon.”

Bouroujerdi indicated that he thoroughly discussed with Salam the security and stability issue in the region in general, saying Iran considers that Lebanon plays an exceptional and prominent role not only on the regional political developments level but also on that of the whole world.

Separately, Salam welcomed UNRWA Commissioner-General, Pierre Kr?henbühl, chairing a delegation.

He also met with cassation prosecutor, Judge Samir Hammoud.
