Berri, interlocutors tackle current affairs

APRIL 14, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, met on Tuesday morning at Ein Tineh residence with the Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Awad Asiri, with talks reportedly dwelling on the latest developments in the region.

This afternoon, Speaker Berri met with General Security Director General, Abbas Ibrahim, whereby the pair broached the current security situation and the abducted soldiers’ issue.

Separately, Berri met with Italian Army Chief of Staff General Claudio Graziano and Italian Ambassador to Lebanon Giuseppe Morabito. Talks reportedly touched on the current developments, notably the situation in the south and the task of UNIFIL.

The Speaker later met with Algerian Ambassador to Lebanon Ahmed Bouziane and discussed with him the current developments and bilateral relations.

Berri then met with the UN Secretary-General’s Envoy for Humanitarian Affairs Abdullah Maatouq, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Goatteres, UN Special Coordinator in Lebanon Sigrid Kaag, UNHCR Representative in Lebanon Ninat Kelly, and Humanitarian Affairs Coordinator Ross Mountain.

Speaking on emerging, Maatouq said that they discussed with the Speaker an array of issues, including the current Arab situation, the recent Donor countries meeting in Kuwait and the Syrian refugees in Lebanon and its impact on the country.
