JANUARY 11, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Gebran Bassil, represented Sunday Prime Minister, Tammam Salam, in the mass demonstration which took place in the French capital, Paris, in condemnation of the brutal crime against “Charlie Hebdo” News daily and terrorism, and in defense of freedom of expression. ‘We have Charlie everyday in the army, media and in the Lebanese family, as well as in each and every church and mosque,” Bassil said.
“I am partaking this day in this march in solidarity with France and Lebanon, against what France has been subjected to, and what is happening in Lebanon everyday with regards to terrorist operations,” added Bassil.
“We feel with the French people and share their pain, and our presence with them today in this march against terrorism is in light of the fact that France creates a global platform to express our adherence to common human values, for it is defending people’s rights to exist and live in confrontation against takfiri groups,” Bassil went on.
He concluded, “So we say to the French that the battle is one, we fight together and shall win together.”
It is to note that participating in the demonstration were various leaders from all over the world, who were greeted by French President Francois Hollande at the Elysee Palace before the start of the march.
