Azzi, Mountain tackle Syrian refugee dossier

July 24, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Labour Minister, SejaanAzzi, and Ross Mountain, the U.N. resident Coordinator in Lebanon, on Friday tackled the simmering situation of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon and discussed the best means to better handle their stay in Lebanon at the levels of expansion and labour.

In turn, Azzi confirmed Lebanon’s openness to the employment of Syrian refugees “provided that it doesn’t come at the expense of the Lebanese working force.”

Both men agreed to draft a joint work program that preserves Lebanese social safety and simultaneously takes into consideration the humanitarian status of refugees.
