May 31, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon, Ali Awad al-Assiri, considered Sunday that “PM Tamam Salam’s expected visit to Saudi Arabia comes amidst difficult regional circumstances, which reflect the importance of pursuing deliberations between leaders of both brotherly countries, exchanging views and vision regarding the current phase witnessed in the region.”
Assiri disclosed in his statement that “PM Salam will be meeting with Saudi Monarch Salman ben Abdel-Aziz and senior Saudi officials, where he will be expressing the Lebanese State’s gratitude for the grant offered by the Saudi Kingdom to the Lebanese Army, in addition to its supportive stands towards Lebanon at all levels.”
Assiri also indicated that “PM Salam will be accompanied by an official Lebanese delegation of cabinet members, who will be holding talks with their Saudi counterparts over bilateral cooperation between their respective ministries.”
“The visit will be a chance to reiterate the strong, historical, brotherly ties linking both countries, and to encourage various Lebanese political forces to activate internal dialogue, placing the nation’s higher interests above all other, and to work on reaching consensus over electing a new President of the Republic the soonest possible,” Assiri concluded.
