Army denies compromise with terrorist groups

OCTOBER 27, 2014 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) The Lebanese Army Command – Orientation Directorate issued on Monday the following statement:

“Army units continue to implement their military operations in the city of Tripoli and its environs, where they managed to enter the last bastion of terrorist armed groups in Tebbeneh and arrested a number of them, while others were able to escape, taking advantage of the nature of the residential buildings, after they planted bombs in various neighborhoods, especially in the vicinity of Abdullah bin Masood mosque, and our units are still working on dismantling those explosives. Weapons stores and a factory for the manufacture of explosives have been also seized.

The Army denies any compromise with these groups, and all that has been said is part of the political exploitation process by some politicians affected by the rapid and decisive military success in the eradication of these groups that have long captured and sabotaged the city of Tripoli. The Army units, strengthened by additional personnel, will continue to implement security measures, keep track of the terrorist groups and raid all suspicious areas.”
