Army arrests 9 Syrians, two Lebanese in Bekaa

FEBRUARY 17, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Army units continued their security procedures in the northern Bekaa, whereby they raided this morning suspected places and houses of a number of wanted persons in the neighborhood of al-Sharawneh and Tel Abiad in Baalbeck, arresting nine Syrian nationals and two Lebanese citizens in the process, Army Command-Guidance Directorate said in a communiqué.

The nine Syrians were arrested for entering illegally into the Lebanese territories, while one of the two Lebanese citizens was arrested on charges of opening fire at different times.

Around 50 kg of narcotics, 6 cars without legal papers, in addition to military materiel and light ammunition were seized in the operation.

The arrested persons with seizures were handed to the relevant authorities for further action.
