Aoun: Ties with Hariri continue

OCTOBER 28, 2014 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) “Change and Reform” bloc Chief, Deputy Michel Aoun, said that “ties with former Prime Minister, Saad Hariri, have never stopped but talks were halted due to the ongoing situation.”

Aoun stressed that he would always be against Parliament term extension.

The MP’s remarks came after meeting with Mufti of the Republic Abdel Latif Derian at Dar al- Fatwa.

Regarding the situation in Tripoli, he said, “the crisis in Tripoli is over, but terrorist cells exist in other areas.”

He added that Lebanon is affected by regional developments, hoping that the negative repercussions which have prevailed over the weekend will not happen again.

On another note, Aoun said concerning the kidnapped soldiers file, “resolving the case of Arsal captives will take time.”

He asserted that patience and wisdom would be required at this critical stage.

Regarding his relation with Dar al-Fatwa, he confirmed “we are in a new political stage and we seek national unity and calm political practices.”
