Aoun meets delegation of Jordanian Lebanese Friendship House committee

APRIL 9, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Head of Change and Reform bloc, MP Michel Aoun, on Thursday met in Rabieh with a delegation of the Jordanian-Lebanese Friendship House committee, headed by lawmaker Raed Hejazin, in presence of MP Fadi Alawar.

Speaking to reporters following the meeting, Hejazin indicated that talks touched on the current challenges in the region. “Viewpoints were convergent, whereas in Lebanon and Jordan, we are facing the same challenges related to the Syrian crisis, the issue of refugees, and the economic situation,” he said.

“We called upon Aoun, considering that he is the head of the biggest parliamentary bloc with a big influence on the scene, to assume a role in pressuring the government in order to establish the Higher Joint Lebanese-Jordanian Committee which lastly met in 2010 in Amman,” he added.

“There are many agreements between Lebanon and Jordan in addition to a number of memorandums of understanding. Lebanon is the lung of Jordan,” he stressed.

Hejazin hoped that the Lebanese Parliament would elect a president of the republic to end the current vacuum.
