FEBRUARY 25, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Former President Amin Gemayel said, “Our ministers are not at all responsible for the suspension of the cabinet work, and we regret ridiculing the role of presidency and considering the current situation as normal with or without a president.”
Gemayel’s fresh stance came Wednesday in the context of a ministerial meeting at his residence in Sin el Fil, in presence of former president Michel Sleiman, Telecom Minister Boutros Harb, National Defense Minister Samir Mokbel, Information Minister Ramzi Jreij, and others.
Former President Amin Gemayel, who read the outcome of the meeting, said the national priority should be given to electing a president for the republic as soon as possible as the presence of a president would help solving all pending local problems.
“Vacancy in presidency amidst the current hard stage will suspend Lebanon’s active presence at Arab and international instances,” said Gemayel, who added, “We will continue meetings and negotiations in order to reach consensual climates in the country, especially amidst the current stage.”
