Ahmad ‘Alam: Kidnappers demand ransom to release the drivers

APRIL 3, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Kidnapers of the 4 truck drivers taken hostage on the Syro-Jordanian border have demanded $ U.S. 10,000 for releasing each vehicle of the Lebanese-owned trucks and drivers, Seer-Dinniyyeh municipal head Ahmad ‘Alam disclosed today.

The Lebanese-owned refrigerated vegetable containers bound for Kuwait and the Gulf, have been held up on the border crossing which changed hands between Syrian army regulars and rebelled yesterday evening,’ Alam said. He appealed to the Jordanian authorities to facilitate the passage of all trucks making the point that both Syrians and Jordanians actually benefit from transiting Lebanese goods.
