Adwan: Parliament’s control role over executive authority disrupted

JANUARY 20, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Member of Parliament Georges Adwan confirmed on Tuesday the need to press the cabinet to end constitutional violations regarding the budget, addressing the public by saying that the parliament’s main role– which is to control the executive authority’s performance — is disrupted.

“I would like the public to know that the parliament’s main role which is to control the executive authority is disrupted due to the fact that the cabinet does not perform its duties and the incapability to hold it accountable due to current circumstances,” Adwan said during a press conference.

Adwan pointed out that the finance and economic situation in the country cannot be precisely known and controlled in the absence of a general comprehensive budget, calling upon the cabinet to send the law draft in this regard to the parliament in order to approve it.
