JANUARY 21, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) A meeting was held on Wednesday at the Ministry of Justice, including Minister of Justice Ashraf Rifi, Minister of Public Health Wael Abu Faour, and State Prosecutor Judge Samir Hammoud, devoted to shed light on the role of judiciary amid the campaign leveled by the Ministry of Public Health on food safety and counterfeited drugs.
“Today’s discussions came after the contacts and consultations made between the Ministry of Public health on one hand and the Ministry of Justice and the judicial body on the other,” Abu Faour told a joint press conference following the meeting.
He indicated that the campaign leveled by his Ministry was concerned in fighting corruption in all sectors, not just in terms of food safety.
“The intensified judicial work can lead the path of reform,” he stressed.
He also said that talks touched on presenting a joint draft law on forming a health state prosecution.
He added that the meeting also featured high on two dossiers: the first is relevant to counterfeited cancer medications, and the second is Beirut slaughterhouse.
