WTO DELEGATION CALLS ON SUDAN’S COMMERCE MINISTER
KHARTOUM, April 12 (NNN-SUNA) — Sudanese Minister of Commerce Salah Mohamed Al-Hassan received here Tuesday the Permanent Representative of Sudan’s Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail, and a visiting delegation led by the Chairman of the WTO Working Group for Sudan’s Accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), Ryosuke Kuwana.
Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail said the visit by the leader of the WTO negotiating team for Sudan’s accession to the WTO was to check on the completion of arrangements for Khartoum to join the World Trade Organization. “We can say that we have completed the files to join,” he added.
The ambassador pointed out that the Ministry of Commerce was one of the most important ministries in this regard, “And therefore we have been keen to meet with the minister, the Ministry’s Under-secretary and those responsible for this file and according to the road map, Sudan has completed its file to join the World Trade Organization in December this year.”
He added that the WTO had with Prime Minister and Vice-President and the Chairman of the Higher Committee on Sudan’s WTO Accession as well as the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Commerce. The delegation also met with the Speaker of the Parliament and the Parliamentary committee assigned to the Sudanese initiative to join the WTO. —
