VEEP DIRECTS SUDANESE AGENCIES TO FACILITATE MOVEMENT OF ETHIOPIAN GOODS THROUGH SUDAN’S PORTS

Sudanese Vice-President Hassabo Mohammed Abdul Rahman has directed the authorities concerned to facilitate procedures for the movements of Ethiopian goods imported or exported through Sudanese ports.

Hassabo, who issued the directive when he chaired a meeting of the Sudanese-Ethiopian Joint Committee here Wednesday, affirmed the arrangement for dealing through one window in the system for import and export procedures at Port Sudan, the country’s main maritime gateway.

This is provided for under agreement signed between the two countries, which also cover matters such as transit fees for highways and the development of economic relations.

The Wali (governor) of Red Sea State, Ali Ahmed Hammed, also briefed the meeting regarding the movement of pilgrims from landlocked Ethiopia to Saudi Arabia via Port Sudan, which is located in Red Sea State.
