SUDANESE VEEP MEETS SOUTH SUDAN’S FIRST VICE-PRESIDENT IN ADDIS

Sudanese Vice-President Hassabo Mohamed Abdul-Rahman has held talks here on the sidelines of the ongoing 29th African Union (AU) Summit the First Vice-President of South Sudan, Taaban Deng.

Also present at the meeting here Tuesday were the Foreign Ministers of the two neighbouring countries.

Sudanese Foreign Minister Professo Ibrahim Ghandour said in a statement that the discussions were characterized by frankness.

He said that the Foreign Minister of South Sudan had received on Monday invitation from Sudanese President Al-Bashir to South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir to isit Sudan, adding that agreement was reached during the meeting on holding joint work by the joint security and political committees to guarantee the success of the visit.

Prof. Ghandour pointed out that the meeting between Hassabo and Deng was frank and transparent and included the necessity of stoppage of the support of South Sudan to the armed movements of Darfur in western Sudan.

He said that the Vice-President of South Sudan affirmed readiness to establish strong and positive bilateral relations.

Taaban Deng meanwhile described his meeting with the Sudanese Vice-President as successful and transparent, stressing the importance of joint work for achieving better relations.
