Sudanese President Omer Al-Bashir will visit Russia in the middle of August at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin to consolidate bilateral relations in all fields, says Foreign Minister Professor Ibrahim Ghandour.

The foreign minister told the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) here Monday that the two leaders were expected to discuss a number of important issues relating to economic and trade relations as well as hold consultations on political issues and on the exchange of support at different international forums during the visit.

This was especially in view of the fact that Russia is a major supporter of issues concerning Sudan at the United Nations Security Council and in other international organizations, the foreign minister added.

Prof Ghandour indicated that the visit was coming at a time when Sudan’s foreign relations are witnessing inclusive openness to all countries and effective presence at the level of regional and international organizations.
