SUDANESE HEALTH MINISTER HOLDS TALKS WITH WHO EXPERTS

KHARTOUM, — Sudanese Health Minister Bahar Iddris Abu Garda has held discussions here with experts and consultants of the World Health Organization(WHO) and the WHO Representative in Sudan, Dr Naema Al-Qaseer, on the ongoing arrangements to declare the country free of the Guinea Worm disease (GWD).

During their meeting here Sunday, the WHO delegation commended Sudan on its efforts to eradicate GWD and called on other countries to make use of Sudan’s experience in this connection.

The Health Minister affirmed Sudan’s co-operation with the international organization to eradicate diseases and thanked the WHO for its efforts to declare Sudan free of GWD.

Abu Garda lauded endeavours made by all workers to eradicate the GWD until Sudan had obtained certificatation that it is GWD-free.

The WHO Delegation is assessing Sudan’s experience in eradicating the Guinea Worm disease.
