Lower House Speaker Holds Talks with Cameroonian Counterpart

Rabat – Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, held talks, here Monday, with the President of the National Assembly of Cameroon, Cavayé Yeguié Djibril, who is on a working visit to Morocco at the head of a large parliamentary delegation.

During this meeting, Yeguié Djibril expressed his delight at re-visiting Morocco for a second time, praising the progress and achievements accomplished by the Kingdom in recent years at all levels, under the wise leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, the Lower House says in a press release.

Expressing his country’s aspiration to consolidate cooperation and partnership with Morocco in all fields, the official extended an official invitation to the Speaker of the House of Representatives to pay a working visit to Cameroon, which will provide ‘an opportunity to strengthen parliamentary cooperation between the legislative institutions of the two countries.’

For his part, Talbi Alami stressed the solidity of relations between the two friendly countries, particularly at parliamentary level, recalling the foundations of Morocco’s African policy, under the impetus of His Majesty the King.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives also highlighted the leading role played by Morocco and Cameroon in Africa, particularly in terms of security, stability and South-South development and cooperation.

During the meeting, which was attended by Cameroon’s ambassador to Morocco, Mouhamadou Youssifou, and members of the delegation from Cameroon’s National Assembly, Talbi Alami also highlighted the promising opportunities and great potential offered by the two countries, stressing the need to exploit them to strengthen economic relations and improve trade to serve the common interests of both countries.
