RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Nov 5 (NNN-SPA) – Kuwaiti Minister of Oil and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs, Ali Al-Omair, has emphasised the importance of topics discussed by a major ministerial meeting in Riyadh.

The significance of the 6th Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum Ministerial Meeting, that concluded a four-day activities in the Saudi capital on Wednesday, is that, it comes ahead of the 2015 UN Climate Change Conference due in Dec, the minister noted.

The issue of reducing carbon emissions has come to pose a “global concern,” amid signs of rising levels of CO2, the minister told KUNA.

He reiterated Kuwait’s support to all measures likely to reduce emissions.

Though CO2 is the “chief reason” for pollution of the environment, Al-Omair pointed to other “greenhouse gases,” such as fluorocarbon, that have such negative impact on the climate, health and the environment, Al-Omair noted.
