EGYPT, KUWAIT MAINTAIN SPECIAL TIES – MINISTER

CAIRO, Egypt, Nov 5 (NNN-MENA) – Egyptian Minister of Immigration and Expatriate Affairs, Nabila Makram, on Wednesday, stressed the depth of the people-to-people and ruler-to-ruler relationship, between her country and Kuwait.

In press statements, she lauded the supportive stances of Kuwait towards Egypt, at times of distress, and voiced confidence that the Kuwaiti government would adopt the appropriate measures to handle the recent incident.

“Such individual acts cannot affect the strength of ties between the two peoples,” she said, appreciating the reasonable and practical handling of the incident by the Kuwaiti government.

The minister reaffirmed trust in the fairness of the Kuwaiti judiciary system and the amicable relationship between the Egyptian community and the generous people of Kuwait.

“Egypt remembers the supportive stances of the Kuwaiti government and people at times of distress, and the two sisterly countries joined forces in the liberation of Sinai and the liberation of Kuwait,” she went on.

Makram was commenting on the scuffle that took place in Kuwait, in the evening of Sunday, Nov 1, which led to the death of an Egyptian expatriate worker, identified as Ahmed Atef, and wounded another Egyptian and a Kuwaiti citizen.

She noted that, she initiated a phone call with Atef’s family, to express her condolences and reassure them about the soundness of the measures being made by Kuwait, to do justice to those involved in the incident.

The minister added that, she will pay a visit to Kuwait soon, to follow up the legal proceedings and investigations into the incident, and call on the wounded Egyptian and Kuwaitis.– NNN-MENA
