LEBANON FACES CHINA AT AL-THUMAMA STADIUM IN ASIAN CUP ON WEDNESDAY


The Lebanese national football team players unanimously stress the need for a comeback as they take on their Chinese counterparts at Al-Thumama Mondial Stadium in Doha, Qatar, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon in the first match of the second round of Group A stage in the 18th edition of the Asian Cup football competition hosted by Qatar until the 10th of February.

Lebanon delivered a decent performance in the opening match against Qatar (0-3) at Lusail Stadium last Friday. However, they lacked effectiveness in finishing attacks, particularly in the second half.

SPORTS MINISTER ATTENDS AFC ASIAN CUP OPENING IN DOHA, LEADS LEBANESE DELEGATION


Caretaker Minister of Youth and Sports, George Kallas, is set to embark on an official visit to the Qatari capital, Doha, to attend the opening ceremony of the AFC Asian Cup for football and the match between the Lebanese and Qatari national teams scheduled for Friday afternoon. Minister Kallas will also participate in “Expo Doha” and meet with members of the Lebanese community, welcoming the visiting Lebanese national team at Lebanon’s dedicated pavilion.

The official Lebanese delegation includes the Director-General of the Ministry of Economy and Trade, Mohammad Abu Haidar, and the Director-General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Louis Lahoud.

LEBANESE NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM PREPARES FOR AFC ASIAN CUP KICKOFF


The national Lebanese football team is gearing up for a strong presence at the upcoming AFC Asian Cup, hosted by Qatar until February 10th.

The team is set to kick off its campaign in the tournament tomorrow at 6:00 pm Beirut time, facing the host nation and defending champions of the 2019 edition in the UAE, at the iconic Lusail Stadium. This marks Lebanon’s second time participating in the tournament’s opening match, the first being against Iran at the Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium in Beirut during Lebanon’s hosting of the finals. Unfortunately, that inaugural encounter concluded with the Lebanese team losing 0-4.

Jordan’s goalball team starts strong in Asian Para Games, defeating Saudi Arabia

Jordan’s national goalball team made a powerful start at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Para Games, securing a victory against the Saudi Arabian team with a score of 13-6 in their opening match of the tournament within Group A. From the outset, Jordan’s team asserted their dominance, establishing a significant lead of 9-2 by the end of the first half. Although the second half ended in a 4-4 draw, Jordan’s overall performance throughout the game highlighted their prowess and strategic play. With this impressive win, Jordan currently sits atop Group A, closely followed by China, who secured a victory against South Korea with a score of 10-6. Tomorrow, Tuesday, Jordan’s national team will face South Korea in their second match, aiming to continue their winning streak and strengthen their chances of advancing to the knockout stage. The goalball competition at the Hangzhou Asian Para Games features a total of eight teams, divided into two groups. Group A includes China, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea, while Group B consists of Iran, Iraq, Japan, and Qatar. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals, where a single elimination format will determine the finalists. Jordan’s team is determined to make their mark in this prestigious tournament and bring glory to their nation. Goalball is a Paralympic sport designed for visually impaired athletes. It was created in 1946 as a rehabilitation activity for visually impaired World War II veterans. The objective of the game is to throw a ball with bells into the opponent’s goal while defending one’s own goal. Players rely on auditory cues to track the ball’s movement. It emphasizes teamwork, communication, and spatial awareness, providing visually impaired athletes with an equal opportunity to compete in a thrilling and competitive sport

Syrian Al-Foutoua football team beat Lebanese al-Ahed 1-0 in AFC

Riyadh, SANA-Syrian Al Foutoua football team beat Lebanese Al Ahed counterpart 1-0 in a match that brought them together in Saudi Arabia on Monday in the second leg of the Group round of the Asian Football Confederation Cup ( AFC ).

Mustafa Jneid scored for Al-Foutoua in the 67th minute of the match.

Earlier, Al-Foutoua lost 0-1 to Palestinian Jabal al-Mukabar team in the first leg of the tournament.

Later, Al-Foutoua will play against Omani al-Nahda on October 23rd.

Syria wins the gold at 30th SKDUN World Karate Championships , Greece

The Syrian Shotokan martial arts player, Anas Jarbou’a, gained the gold medal in individual fighting at the 30th SKDUN World Karate Championships Chalkida, being held currently in Greece.

“The Syrian athlete Jarbou’a, by obtaining this medal, managed to maintain his title for the second year in a row”, Vice President of the Martial Arts Federation, Ziad Ibrahim, said in a statement to SANA.

Ibrahim added that ranking the first in this championship is an important achievement for Syrian sports in general and for traditional karate in particular.
