SHABAB OMAN II LEAVES QATAR FOR DUBAI PORT
MUSCAT: Royal Navy of Oman vessel, Shabab Oman II left the Doha Port in Qatar on Wednesday morning for Dubai as part of its GCC journey, Cooperation Sail 2015.
On the occasion, the Embassy of Oman in Qatar organised a number of activities, including an official reception which was attended by ship’s crew members, military officials from Oman and Qatar and members of the diplomatic corps, according to a press release.
Brig Gen Saif Salem al Rahbi, Commander of Shabab Oman II, welcomed the guests who saw the various facilities on the ship and learned about goals of its cultural journey. Ibrahim Sa’ad al Qubaisi, Commander in the Qatar Emiri Naval Forces, said, “We are honoured to receive the ship in Qatar, and we are proud of its ultimate goal, which is brotherhood and friendship. We are proud of its excellence in the field of training.”
Dr Issa Saad al Jafali al Nuaimi, Qatar’s Minister of Administration Development, said, “We are proud of the presence of Shabab Oman II in Qatar. Its journey will yield exchange of experiences and cultures as well as training.”
H E Mohamed bin Nasser Hamad al Wuhaibi, Oman’s Ambassador to Qatar, said, “There is no doubt that the GCC trip of Shabab Oman II’s shows the depth of relations between the GCC countries and that comes from the ultimate goal of the ship, that is a message of love and peace, in addition to promoting the Sultanate of Oman and its history throughout the world.”
Brig Gen Rashid Hammod al Tamami, Oman’s military attache in Qatar said, “The aim of the ship is to build bridges of cooperation between brotherly nations, in addition to training.”
