Salam receives congratulation letter on Independence Day from Hollande: We’ll continue to help Lebanon confront the displaced flow

November 21, 2015 (REFERRING TO THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY – LEBANON) Prime Minister Tammam Salam received on Saturday a congratulation letter from the French President Francois Hollande, on the Independence Day and in which he confirmed “his country’s support to Lebanon to overcome all the challenges which face it.”

Hollande praised Salam’s personal efforts amid the current difficult circumstances, saying that his country will continue its efforts to help Lebanon end the presidential vacuum in the country.

Hollande also thanked Salam’s and the Lebanese solidarity with France after the attacks that rocked Paris last week, adding “we, more than ever, should be united amid these exceptional circumstances in order to preserve our common values.”

“France supports Lebanon to face the threats and unfortunate repercussions of the Syrian conflict to be able to defend its sovereignty, unity, stability and territories. France will continue presenting help to Lebanon to overcome the negative impacts of the crises as it will continue to take part with the UNIFIL and support the Lebanese Army and Security Forces that are playing an important role at the current stage.”

Hollande added in his letter that France would continue to help Lebanon to deal with the flood of hundreds of thousands of the displaced Syrians, a heavy burden which the Lebanese would not be able to shoulder alone.
